Walla Walla General Hospital
PKA participated in the initial design of Walla Walla General Hospital in 1976 as well as numerous expansions and remodels since that time. In 2007, PKA developed a master plan for the campus which led to an expansion of the emergency department, lobby, dietary, and administration in 2013.
The project also completely renovates the existing exterior facade of the building to a more contemporary hospital design that is responsive to the Walla Walla community and environment of Eastern Washington.
The Walla Walla Emergency Department is a Level III trauma center and one of just eight hospitals in Washington to receive accreditation through the Society of Chest Pain Centers. Working with staff and administration, the design of the remodeled ED was done in such a way as to get patients from registration into a room in 10 minutes or less in all cases. The design also enabled door-to-treatment time for emergency angioplasty and stent procedures to beat the national standard.
